50 Weeks That Changed America

Submitted by ub on

Its been nearly 50 weeks since and we ask the 5 W's What, Where, When. Who and Why do we deserve this?

What's happened to the indivisible United States of America and to the Republic with Liberty and Justice for all?

Where has the epicenter of this transformation occurred?

When did it all happen to all of US?

Who is responsible?

Why now?

America the Beautiful is an expression of patriotism at its finest conveying an appreciation and gratitude for an extraordinary beauty and abundance, without triumphalism. No one made a great deal of money off the song. Katharine Lee Bates received $5 for the initial publication of her poem and gave up all royalties to it when it was published.

Can American history enthusiasts recall if this great nation has ever experienced deranged messages; surreal lies; mindless tribalism; excusing the molestation of minors; assaulting the free press; attacking our allies; demonizing political enemies; a hypocrisy about sexual abuse; an endorsement neo-fascist hate groups; a vengeful hanging out to dry of Cabinet members; and passing a catastrophic omnibus piece of legislation in one mad, blind rush in order to get a so-called victory?

Who has trampled on political norms, degraded national discourse, shattered the dignity of our nation, promised to lock her up, to get Mexico to build an American wall, to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, does whatever he wishes and so much more?

O beautiful for spacious skies,

For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountain majesties

Above the fruited plain!

America! America!

God shed His grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea!

America! America!

May God thy gold refine

Till all success be nobleness,

And ev'ry gain divine.

O beautiful for patriot dream

That sees beyond the years

Thine alabaster cities gleam

Undimmed by human tears.

America! America!

God shed His grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea.

Republican President Abraham Lincoln — 'America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.' Honest Abe also warned that mobs or people who disrespected American laws and courts could destroy the United States.
