The Washington D.C., Pro chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is accepting entries for its annual Dateline Awards. Event: NYSSCPA’s Excellence in Financial Journalism Award CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Excellence in Financial Journalism Award celebrates the year’s best distinguished reporting that cultivates, promoted and disseminated understanding of accounting, finance and business topics. This is the 32nd year that the NYSSCPA has hosted its national competition to raise awareness and exposure of the outstanding work being done in business journalism. Submissions are being accepted through February 28 in 10 categories. Go to www.efjawards.com to enter. There is a $75 entry submission fee. Winners will be chosen based on the creativity and relevancy of their entry to the category submitted. Winners will be notified April 6. The National Association of Real Estate Editors has issued a call for entries for NAREE’s 65th Annual Journalism Competition. Twenty-five categories will recognize excellence in digital, print and broadcast journalism. Winners will be announced at NAREE’s Miami journalism conference June 24-27, which will draw hundred of journalists and real estate industry speakers to Florida. NAREE’s prestigious journalism competition is open to reporters, columnists, editors and freelancers covering commercial and residential real estate and home and design. Arizona State University journalism professor Tim McGuire will share lessons from his new memoir on living with a physical disability and raising a child with Down syndrome during a webinar hosted by the National Center on Disability and Journalism. McGuire, the Frank Russell Chair for the Business of Journalism at ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, will lead a talk with professional journalists and students from across the country during a free webinar Tuesday, March 3 at 3 p.m. PST.
