First Friday Music + Bronx Seaside Trolley

BPMM and the Bronx Music Heritage Center present the renowned Valerie Capers for
an evening of jazz piano.

Dr. Capers, a lifelong Bronx resident, has performed across the country and in Europe
with her highly acclaimed ensemble and a roster of outstanding artists, including
Dizzy Gillespie, Mongo Santamaria, and Tito Puente. A lifelong Bronx resident who
received her early schooling at the New York Institute for the Education of the
Blind, Dr. Capers went on to obtain both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from
The Julliard School of Music.

She has received awards and commissions from the National Endowment for the Arts
and a Bronx Living Legend award from the Bronx Music Heritage Center for excellence
in jazz music performance and music education.

Enjoy the music from 6 to 8 p.m., explore the mansion, and see the newly restored
formal garden.

The trolley makes a continuous, hourly loop from the #6 Pelham Bay Park subway station
to BPMM to City Island starting at 5:25 p.m.
