Commencing at the Bronx Main Post Office – July 21 @ 11:00am – All Invited!

Yankee Clipper is best known for his incredible 56-game hitting streak in 1941—the season of “the Streak.” DiMaggio led the New York Yankees to 10 pennants and nine World Series titles.

On July 21 the DiMaggio stamp sheets will be sold exclusively during the First-Day event and at all Bronx Post Offices and select Manhattan offices. Starting July 23, limited quantities will go on sale throughout the country.

The United States Postal Service and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr are joining forces to bring the American public and sports fans a double header event. During the First-Day-Of-Issue Stamp Ceremony the Borough of the Bronx will proclaim the date as Joe DiMaggio Day! The Bronx Bomber will be immortalized on stamps for future generations to enjoy and remember! A copy of the Joe DiMaggio Day Proclamation will be available for public viewing.

Immediately following the ceremony there will be an autograph session with special guests signing programs and any other items the public wishes to have signed. USPS Retail Associates will be available for attendees to purchase the DiMaggio stamps along with other sports memorabilia to mark the day. The USPS will be offering two special cancellations to commemorate the First-Day the stamps are available to the public along will celebrating Joe DiMaggio Day.
