CITY ISLAND BLACKOUTS & GREEN TEAM

Submitted by ub on

Some City Islanders have expressed their concern over multiple power failures over the past couple of days. Ironically, this occurs while Con Edison's Green Team plans to host an energy efficiency summit in New York for commercial and industrial building owners looking to make their properties more energy efficient and connect with hundreds of experts on saving energy in May.

After speaking with locals, City Island Images reached out to Con Edison and spoke with Mr. Ramos at Customer service. Although he did not seem to be aware of the recurring problem, supervisor Ms. Rose acknowledged this unfortunate situation as a result of repairs to the system, apologized for the repeated inconvenience and assured City Island Images that this problem would cease by close of business tomorrow. We then asked to be transferred to media relations. The phone almost rang off the hook until Barbara answered to tell us that someone would be calling us back shortly.

Media relations spokesman Chris Olert, who is a former AP colleague returned our phone call. He was friendly and confirmed at least two disruptions over the past day and a half. He says they were short lived and caused by a massive circuit breaker. He says the problem has been resolved and it should not happen again. Olert suggests anyone who experiences a problem may call 180075CONED. City Island Images will keep you posted if we learn anything else.

Several hours later, we received this e-mail in response to a previous online request- Thank you for using Con Edison’s Online Customer Service e-mail option. Our records indicate that we are working in the area repairing our system. This work should be completed by 03/14/12. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Meanwhile back at the summit, it will feature innovative products, services and valuable rebates available to help Con Edison C&I customers reduce energy consumption, lower their energy bills and improve their green footprint. Property and facility managers, engineers and energy managers, C-level executives, energy consultants, architects, designers, contractors, distributors and installers can register for the summit at www.conEdsummit.com.
