CITY ISLAND BRIDGE UPDATE

Submitted by ub on

A public important public hearing has been scheduled on City Island avenue at P.S. 175 next Wednesday, Jan. 15 @ 7:30 p.m.

This may be the last opportunity locals will have to express their views on two ULURPs (Uniform Land Use Review Procedures) not relating to the height of the bridge, but to anchorage points in Pelham Bay Park and easements necessary for the planned construction of a temporary bridge and then a new City Island bridge.

City Island Images urges all interest parties to mark their calendar and attend this scheduled event, but we warn that it may not change anything. The planning process on the part of DOT and Tutor Perini has been ongoing for some time and their involvement with the construction of the City Island bridge could be already be too advanced for many of the changes the City Island Civic Association wants.

We wonder why It took 15 years of planning for local these community leaders and for s NY State Senator to finally take legal action, which may in fact be too little and much too late?
