CITY ISLAND JUSTICE

The City Island Civic met this week at the Community Center @ 190 Fordham Street. Residents discussed their concerns and the discussion turned to drinking and driving. The civic message was loud and clear.

The City Island Community is coming together to collectively fight back against public enemies. At the Civic Association meeting, the topic came up up once again about a local bar where a costumer was allegedly drinking before getting behind the wheel and running over City Island resident Emily Sexton. The business is being labeled "public nuisance" and officials are working to close the place. NY is suing the bar for serving alcohol to undercover cops who looked young, but were not carded, according to legal documents filed court.

The complaint reportedly states that these sales of alcohol were made in a business as usual manner and demonstrate that the bar is a "public nuisance." 41year old Peter Wolfman, stumbled out of the bar Nov. 13 before running his out-of-control Ford pick up truck into 17 year old Emily. She suffered broken ribs, broken legs, a broken arm and multiple organ injuries. Wolfman was sentenced to up to four years in prison.
