Racial unrest is sweeping colleges and universities in many campuses indicating how much social media has influenced activism. A protest at one campus can go viral within minutes.

Shared photos of a particularly powerful demonstration might embolden others to take similar stands. Activists don’t have to go through traditional media outlets to spread their message.

Studying with people of different racial and ethnic backgrounds is important and faculty, as well as student-body diversity should be prioritized in higher education. The important factors are the total number of minority instructors, including international students, and the overall mix of groups

Understanding and explaining how experiences build empathy for others, a strong will, and character is a good focus for the diversity question.
