HE WAS BORN MP GAY

Submitted by ub on

The Prince of Soul was born Marvin Pentz Gay Jr. in Washington, D.C. on April 2, 1939. He was raised under the strict control of his dad, Reverend Marvin Gay Sr., the minister at a local church.

He added an e to his name and became Marvin Gaye, Motown's superstar soul singer and songwriter during the 1960s and 1970s.

On April 1, 1984, Marvin Gay Sr. shot and killed his son one day short of his birthday during a fight. His father says he acted in self-defense but was convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

Gaye produced his own records and often addressed extremely hot topics and controversial themes. City Island Images would like to share the following video clips of his amazing talent.

There are several versions of the following song performed by different groups, but Marvin Gaye's stands out above all of them.
