INCREASE MINIMUM WAGES

Submitted by ub on

Employees at stores and fast food restaurants went on strike last year expressing their financial difficulties as a result of the minimum wage. The minimum wage is not high enough to cover basic costs of living in this country. Residents in NYC, Chicago, Detroit, LA, Boston, and St. Louis displayed their frustrations by picketing and or by striking.

The US minimum wage was raised to $7.25 in 2009, by members of Congress. Now, many making minimum wages are demanding it be raised to $15 dollars and hour. However, Congress is proposing the wage be raised to $10.10 but opponents are concerned it will result in employee layoffs and increased costs to consumers to offset paying for increased wages.

City Island Images feels the time has come to raise that minimum wage now.
