LOST IN TRANSLATIONS?

Two major storms of the century only half a year apart? You can call them storms of historic proportions.. You can call it dangerous, but do not call it hype.

The politicians are telling people this is a dangerous storm because it is. These are serious life-threatening storms.

Thankfully, the science of meteorology has improved significantly over the years and forecasters have seen these coming.

But what's up with these politicians using visible sign language interpreters and practically ignoring other languages?

According to available facts and figures, there are close to 1,000,000 functionally deaf in this country. In NYC alone, there are twice as many Hispanics. New York has the largest Puerto Rican population of any city in the world and more Dominicans live in New York than any other city in the world barring Santo Domingo. Over 2.37 million Hispanics reside in New York City, more than any other city in the United States. Were New York Hispanics a city unto themselves, they would rank 4th nationwide and there are no visible Spanish-language translation services or, efforts being made.

Also, New York City has the largest Chinese population of any city outside of Asia and there are no visible Chinese interpreters available. In fact, lmost half of all New Yorkers speak a language other than English. An estimated 200 languages are spoken in New York City.
