Muni-Meter Flaws

Submitted by Admin on

NYC Transportation Chair James Vacca will convene a public hearing on Introduction 1042.

Originally introduced by Council Member David Greenfield, it would require municipal meters to be deactivated when parking rules are not in effect or when receipt paper is not available.

The committee will hear testimony from the DOT-Department of Transportation on the feasibility of making the citywide on-street parking system fairer.

WHERE: 250 Broadway, 16th Floor Committee Room

WHEN: Wednesday, May 29, 2013, 1:30 p.m.

Throughout New York City, on-street meters and meters at municipal parking facilities dispense receipts that are either displayed on the dashboard of the parked car or kept by the driver. Meters accept coins (quarters, dollar coins) and NYC Parking Cards. Many accept credit cards.
