What a week... First there was the earthquake, which hit the east coast and then tremors, followed by a hurricane. Holy cow- Thank the Lord it's finally over. New York City was spared the worst of earthquake, tremors last week and then Hurricane IRENE this weekend -

By The Grace of GOD, New Yorkers were mostly spared.

Thank God it's over... It has been a very rough week, including an earthquake and tremors, followed by the violent weekend visit from Hurricane IRENE. God's good deed for NYC decade!

IRENE said hello on Sunday around Coney Island Beach and goodbye from Orchard Beach.

There was flooding in Manhattan and two major freeways were closed.

905,000 homes and businesses around NY and Long Island lost power.

Southbound lanes of the New York State Thruway were shut down for 137 miles Albany to W. Nyack. Northbound lanes shut for 90 miles from Westchester to Saugerties.

Bungalows floating down streets in Queens, NY. Rescuers searched for people inside.

New York's major airports were closed Sunday as the tri-state area cleaned up after IRENE.

Mandatory evacuations were ordered for New York City residents in low-lying coastal areas that are the home to 370,000 residents. Order lifted by 3 p.m. on Sunday.

NYC public transit system shut down until Monday AM. The five main NY airports also closed.

Meanwhile, in NYC, about 50,000 households out the city's millions of residents lost power.
