PEDDLING THE FACTS

Submitted by ub on

NYC is a wonderful place to bike, as long as you have a safe place to park your bike. Unfortunately, it happens to be our nation's bike stealing capital. Ask any New Yorker and they will probably tell you they know someone who has had their bike stolen, and some talk about bike locks like others talk about home alarms.

Although The Bronx and Staten Island editions of the NYC bicycling map were the first to be released, way back in 1997, maps for all five boroughs are available. Eventually, the individual borough maps were combined into one single map.

These maps are distributed to the public, advocacy groups, bicycle shops, governmental agencies, and elected and appointed officials. More than 2,400,000 maps have been printed and distributed since 1997.
