Showdown To Shutdown

Submitted by Admin on

US Lame-duck lawmakers return to our nation's capital facing their biggest agenda yet and this do nothing leaders do not much time to get it all done before the new GOP majority Congress convenes in January.

Their to-do list includes keeping the government running into 2015, renewing expired tax breaks for individuals and businesses and approving a defense policy measure that has passed for more than 50 years in a row.

These people says they hope to get it all done in two weeks without stumbling into a government shutdown, but don't hold your breath.

Also pending are President Barack Obama’s requests for money to combat Islamic State militants, battle Ebola and deal with an influx of unaccompanied Central American children who have crossed into the U.S.

Their greatest political dance revolves around preventing a government shutdown when a temporary funding measure expires on 12/11. Congress is negotiating a $1 trillion spending bill for the budget year that already started 10/1 and are promising to have it ready by 12/8.

If you believe in Santa Claus, this is as a good a time as ever to ask the big guy for immediate intervention, or emergency assistance.
