Special NYC Christmas

Come on, get happy and celebrate with holiday songs and well-known Christmas carols near the Washington Square Arch. The Rob Susman Brass Quartet, song leader, and the revelers from all over the city will lustily sing out familiar tunes. The words are in the songbooks distributed by the Washington Square Association, but many will know them by heart. “Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men” will ring out and is especially meaningful this season.

The Washington Square Association, Inc. founded in 1906, is one of the city’s oldest community organizations. For 93 years, it has sponsored carol singing under the arch. Other activities concern the continued improvement of Washington Square, the Washington Square Music Festival, and fostering neighborhood spirit. 212 2523621 washingtonsquarenyc.org

Finally, out of the way and nicely tucked and decorated are City Island, a slice of NYC Paradise and nearby Pelham Bay Park's grand Grecian-style Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum and garden that overlooks The lagoon in New York City's largest park. The property dates back to the 1790s, when it was purchased by John Bartow Prevost.

Today, #CityImages offers tours of this paradise island and the 19th-century mansion that give insight into the lives of prominent New Yorkers, like Mayor LaGuardia who used the mansion as a summer office and Aaron Burr the third vice president of the United States and shooter of Alexander Hamilton who was married to John Bartow's mother Theodosia Bartow.
