During Hispanic Heritage Month, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. will be joined by Hispanic donor families and transplant recipients along with New York Organ Donor Network and Wildlife Conservation Society officials to celebrate “Bronx for Life,” and urge Bronx residents to register to become organ donors.

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.; James Pardes, VP Marketing Communications New York Organ Donor Network; Archbishop Angelo Rosario, CEO - Bronx Clergy Task Force; Nadia Uddin, kidney transplant recipient; Emily Melendez, whose mother saved lives through organ donation; Victor Sanchez, kidney transplant recipient.

Celebration of “Bronx for Life” – Each year more than 1,500 New Yorkers receive transplanted kidneys, livers and hearts. But with more than 8,000 New Yorkers on waiting lists, the need is great, especially among minorities who account for half of all persons on the national waiting list. Minority donor families and recipients will highlight the critical need for donated organs, and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., will call to on Bronx residents to register on the NYS Organ and Tissue Donor Registry.
