TOUR DE BRONX 2011

Submitted by ub on

On Wednesday, October 12, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. will officially launch the 17th annual “Tour De Bronx,” the largest free cycling event in New York State.

Participants will have the opportunity to see Bronx historic districts, vibrant neighborhoods, beautiful waterfront and great greenways while enjoying a 40- or 25-mile bike ride.

This greatly anticipated event is co-hosted by Transportation Alternatives and generously sponsored by Montefiore Medical Center and St. Barnabas and Bronx-Lebanon Hospitals. It is produced by the Bronx Tourism Council at the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation. The community ride promotes bicycling as a healthy choice for both the body and the environment.

Roxanne Watson, a recent heart transplant patient at Montefiore Medical Center who is now embarking on workouts that include walking and bicycling, will also be on hand to encourage riders to take part in Tour de Bronx.

Bicyclists can register now at tourdebronx.org.
