US Political Convention Speeches

Mitt Romney

In Mitt Romney’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, he took an aggressive stance against Obama. He said “I wish President Obama had succeeded, because I want America to succeed.” The idea of the American Dream was brought up and he talked more about his religion and his family. He tried to convey himself as a person of empathy and good intent. Romney went into detail on how Obama has “failed” in the last four years.
I didn’t really like Mitt Romney’s speech. He spent most of the time bashing President Obama, instead of giving valid reasons why he should be President. He painted a very vague picture of what he would do in four years. After doing some research, I found out that I don’t agree with some of the beliefs of Mitt Romney. For example, he is against Obamacare, which I believe is a great idea.

Barrack Obama

In President Barrack Obama’s speech at the Democratic Nation Convention, he talks about the improvement of America in the past four years. He gave specific examples on how the economy has changed for the better since he became president. He also talked about what he would continue to do if he were to be elected for a second term. Very little was said about Mitt Romney. Some of the issues he talked about were education, national debt, and taxes.
While I was watching Obama’s speech, I found myself agreeing with a lot of things he was saying. Obama inherited a mess when he became president in 2008. I think he has done a good job considering what has happened in the last four years.
