LaGuardia Community College has partnered with Goldman Sachs in launching the "10,000 Small Businesses" initiative, which - through a 10 week class in which people must apply and be accepted - qualifying small business owners can receive practical business knowledge from experts in the field. The class is free, and there are details below in the invitation about the qualifications for entry into the program.

At the event on May 14, US Representative Joe Crowley has assembled recent graduates of the "10,000 Small Business" program, as well as executives from Goldman Sachs and professors from LaGuardia Community College to talk about the program and its merits.
Congressman Crowley thought there may be some who may be interested to learn about this program and apply for admission.

LaGuardia Community College, in conjunction with Congressman Joe Crowley, invites you to a Meet & Greet and Discussion on Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Small Businesses initiative on May 14th.

This $500 million philanthropic initiative helps small business owners, like yourself, create jobs and economic opportunity by providing you with greater access to business education, financial capital and business support services. There is no cost for business owners in the program other than your time and commitment. Participants will gain practical business knowledge and skills that can be put to work immediately, such as contract negotiation, marketing, accounting and talent management.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

·Applicant must be an owner or co-owner of a business

·Business in operation for at least two years

·Business revenues between $150,000 and $4.0 million in the most recent fiscal year

·Business with a minimum of four employees

As a participant in the program, you will attend a dynamic, ten-session curriculum that examines business fundamentals using your own management experiences; develop a customized business growth plan aimed at increasing revenues and jobs; gain access to one-on-one business advising services; engage in networking opportunities with peers and program alumni; and, have the opportunity to apply for loans and capital.
