City Island Images was launched three years ago as a news and information website. It was created by journalist Roberto Soto who's also offering 24/7 streaming video as part of the service.

This site is run by City Islander Roberto Soto. People can read stories and tweets as well as view street scenes of both sidewalk and street activity along City Island Avenue.

Some street scenes are heartwarming images, which rise to the level of something that a Norman Rockwell of the 21st century would illustrate.

Robert Soto has had a positive impact by keeping the City Island online community updated and informed about current events, as well as allowing a window to the small nautical community.

The camera does not record and shows in real time a street and sidewalk scene. It was designed as a public service. City Islanders can see what is happening on the streets of their own community, while in the comfort of their own homes.

Those looking to visit the island on heavy traffic days can decide whether they want to drive, take the bus, or leave their car at Orchard Beach and walk towards the island paradise.

The camera project was funded by Soto, with hardware and software costing him $1000.
