Following a busy summer season, City Island began slowing down this Labor Day. The most influential restaurants owner on the island says business is always slow on Labor Day and Sammy Chernin told City Island Images that business was especially slow today due to the wet weather.

The City Island traffic was so light that City Island Images found a News 12 crew doing a live shot on the fact that City Island traffic was virtually non existent due to scattered showers, which kept most folks indoors today.

Weather forecasters are predicting additional scattered showers through the night and into tomorrow morning. Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm tonight, then thunderstorms, mainly between 9pm and 3am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. Light and variable wind becoming south around 5 mph in the evening.

Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Tuesday scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 9am and 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. West wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation will be 40%.
