CITY ISLAND IMAGES wishes to congratulate all who participated at Orchard Beach's Down & Dirty.

The Merrell Down & Dirty presented by Subaru returned to New York City yesterday. This benefit race in the mud included a partnership with Operation Gratitude. Operation Gratitude sends care packages filled with snacks, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation addressed to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed in hostile regions such as Iraq and Afghanistan, and on Naval ships at sea! and much more!

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg say they have made a gentleman's bet on the outcome of Sunday's Super Bowl game.

When New York Giants win, a New York City family will receive a free trip to Boston, complete with a stay at the Ritz Carlton, dinner at Legal Sea Foods and box seats to a Bruins or Celtics game.

RUSSIANS FROM CHECHNYA

One of the the two bombing suspects is now dead and the other is still being tracked down by public safety officials, who says both are believed to have links to the Russian region of Chechnya.

The second suspect has been identified as Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev. He is armed and dangerous following an early morning shoot-out. The other suspect, who are believed to be brothers was killed this morning following a gun fight. The brothers have lived in the United States for at least 1 year.

The war of words between China, Russia and US continues to escalate. As he flees from espionage charges, NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden apparently left Hong Kong on Sunday for Ecuadoran asylum. This could leave USA with little option as attempts are made to prosecute Snowden who is accused of leaking details about top secret surveillance programs. Snowden may have some 200 sensitive documents in his possession.

Following a busy summer season, City Island began slowing down this Labor Day. The most influential restaurants owner on the island says business is always slow on Labor Day and Sammy Chernin told City Island Images that business was especially slow today due to the wet weather.

The City Island traffic was so light that City Island Images found a News 12 crew doing a live shot on the fact that City Island traffic was virtually non existent due to scattered showers, which kept most folks indoors today.

It's about learning the language, while airing out your dirty laundry. A NYC artist will soon offer English classes to immigrants at his local laundromat. Hector Canonge says the non profit project will begin with basic words like soap, bleach and clothes.

Hector explains that his first session will be held at the Magic Touch Laundromat, where the community comes together, and everyone gets to know each other, while washing their dirty laundry.

English language lessons start in Inwood next month. Talk about good old fashioned American ingenuity.

Panama 2019

Ruben Blades says he will once again be running for president of Panama. He says this decision to run in 2019, stems from a vision of his country's long-term solutions, which require rewriting codes and renewing diagrams necessary for the administration of the public good, efficiently and transparently. Moreover, he insists it requires a change in national attitude that includes a return to self-love, the love of country and concern for its future.
