JEMP Owners LLC is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for 36 affordable housing rental apartments under construction at 1434-1438 Morris Avenue, 720-722 East 161st Street and 748 Jackson Avenue in the Mott Haven and Morrisania section of the Bronx. These buildings are being constructed through the Low Income Rental Program (LIRP) of the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD).

Due to a derailment near the East 116th Station in Manhattan the following disruptions are in effect: northbound 4 and 6 trains are running express from East 42nd St. to East 125th St., the 5 train is running on the 2 track from Nevins St. in Brooklyn to 149th St. and Grand Concourse in the Bronx. The trolley makes continuous loops from the Pelham Bay Park #6 subway station to BPMM to City Island starting at 5:25 p.m.

Concerned citizens all over America are taking to the streets tonight during National Night Out. It is a national effort to help battle crime and take back our neighborhoods.

There are events are being held across this country, including one at the Metropolitan Oval where Mayor Michael Bloomberg is expected to be in attendance.

Police officials say National Night Out is a unique opportunity for them to connect with the community and send a strong message that residents are going to stand up against crime and violence.

Cuban born Margarita Agullar has been named as the new director of Museo del Barrio. Her appointment becomes effective in September. Aguilar served in the curatorial department at El Museo from 1998 to 2006, and is currently Vice President and Senior Specialist in Latin American art for Christie’s.
