First Fridays is usually a monthly event held on the first of the month providing fun, free shuttles and many surprises from the old town charm of City Island, New York. But this day, we also celebrate forty fabulous years of Ron Terner doing business at Focal Point Gallery.

On the first Friday of every month, the businesses of City Island's nautical neighborhood host an amazing event. We call it, First Fridays. The mission of First Fridays is to promote and support our area by providing businesses with an outlet to showcase their work.

Every first Friday of the month, participating City Island area organizations unite to promote musicians, artists, and restaurants through extended operating hours. In doing so the chamber hopes to encourage a dialogue between businesses, artists and member of the nautical community. This is a wonderful time to visit City Island's everyday Zen relaxation and meet our locals and friendly neighbors.

Following three days of deliberations, a seven men and five women federal jury found that the couple conspired to sell the influence of the Virginia governor’s office to Jonnie R. Williams Sr.

The former Virginia governor Robert F. McDonnell and his wife, Maureen were found guilty of public corruption, thereby sending a clear message that they believed the couple sold the office once occupied by Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson to a free-spending Richmond businessman for golf outings, lavish vacations and $120,000 in sweetheart loans.

Mr. and Mrs. McDonnell face decades in federal prison. U.S. District Judge James R. Spencer set a sentencing hearing for Jan. 6. He was a onetime Republican rising star considered for the 2012 vice presidential nomination, but was convicted of all 11 corruption-related counts.

Five days after what turned out to be a-fatal heart and lung failure, remained on life support was accompanied by her daughter, Melissa, stood vigil until the end. She wrote the following

“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17pm surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother.

Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated.

My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”
