UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today voiced concern about the possible use of chemical weapons in the Syrian conflict and stressed the need for the international community to keep a close eye on the situation.

“It would be reprehensible if anybody in Syria is contemplating use of such weapons of mass destruction, like chemical weapons,” Mr. Ban told reporters in Belgrade, Serbia, where he is on an official visit.

LEGISLATION TO REFORM COMMERCIAL CYCLING IN NYC

New York City Council Member Gale A. Brewer and Transportation Chair James Vacca today announced the details of legislation that will reform the enforcement of commercial cycling laws in New York City. DOT recently announced a safety campaign designed to inform business owners of the city’s commercial cycling laws. DOT also announced it will deploy inspectors to enforce criminal penalties, which are often difficult to prosecute, against businesses that fail to comply with existing laws.

We knew that Dave Brubeck had a hit record with Take Five. But what do we do with the Thelonious Monks that no one wanted to hear? Nobody wanted to hear Thelonious Monk. So we played his music in the afternoon. Afternoon programs were the best programs we had at Newport.

I remember school days where using paper with wide solid blue lines, each delineated space then subdivided by a dotted line. Capital letters were expected to reach the next solid line. Until you did it right, you had to write with a pencil, but when your writing was considered adequate, you were awarded the privilege of writing with a pen!
