The NYC Parks Department announced plans to widen and pave the Putnam Trail in Van Cortlandt Park. The Putnam Trail is currently a dirt path that cuts through the park, between Van Cortlandt Lake and Tibbetts Brook.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz was joined today by Transportation Alternatives, Montefiore Medical Center, St. Barnabas Hospital, Bronx Lebanon Medical Center, Domino’s Pizza, the New York Botanical Garden and Woodlawn Cemetery to announce the 17th Annual Tour De Bronx , New York’s State largest free cycling event. National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
This year’s theme is “Many Backgrounds, Many Stories…One American Spirit.”

These venues consistently drew diverse crowds dancing to the sounds of Latin luminaries, including Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Machito, Beny Moré, and La Lupe.
