Save the Putnam Trail

The NYC Parks Dept blatantly lied to the community regarding its plans for the Putnam Trail project in the Bronx. It makes those who stand by and allow these lies to continue complicit in the lies.

The NYC Parks Dept told the community that:

1. A stone dust Putnam Trail would NOT be wheelchair accessible or meet the requirements of the American with Disabilities Act.
This statement is completely false. A stone dust trail totally adheres to ADA guidelines and is wheelchair accessible

2. NYC Parks Dept. also stated to the community that the funding for the Putnam Trail project MANDATES that asphalt pavement be used.
This statement is completely false as well. The funding allows for multiple type of surfaces to be used.

Why does the NYC Council allow these lies and false statements to the community go unchallenged? The NYC Council should stand up an reject a project costing NYC taxpayers $1 million; a project which even the local Bronx community is saying no to!

A petition with over 1000 passionate comments saying NOT to pave the Putnam Trail can be found at

We are asking you on behalf of the Bronx Community and citizens of NYC to NOT let this project go forward and to hold the NYC Parks Dept accountable for their repeated lies and misinformation spread to the community regarding the Putnam Trial project.

Thanks for your time and we hope to hear from NYC Council Members who desire to see accountability with spending and who believe in oversight of the NYC Parks Dept; a Dept. which seems to be able to act with impunity.
