Do you consider yourself as someone who drinks a lot? The top 10 percent of American drinkers are said to consume more than 10 drinks per day.

Do you like to enjoy one drink with dinner every night? That puts you in the top 30 percent of American adults in terms of per-capita alcohol consumption. If you drink two glasses, that would put you in the top 20 percent.

Consider the costs and the benefits of controlling alcohol consumption. Which drug gives Americans the greatest pleasure and the most pain? The answer is alcohol. The pain comes not only from drunk driving and lost lives but also from alcoholism, family problems, crime, violence, health issues, and squandered human potential. Young and old, drinkers and abstainers alike, all are affected. Everyone in The United States of America is actually paying for alcohol abuse.
