America's birthday celebration

Submitted by ub on

There are several versions on who discovered America first. Some point to Chinese explorers, others say it was the Vikings. But what is crystal clear is that there must have been a series of immigration waves to the Western Hemisphere.

Where they came from, when they arrived and how they got here is full of speculation. There is another theory that all native Americans are descended from people which immigrated from Siberia across the Bering Straights around 10,000 years ago. Lots of people could have discovered America. Was it the Vikings, who were here first? Could it have been the ancient Chinese? Was it perhaps Polynesians? While the Indians were making themselves at home, Columbus made his move and will always be on record as having discovered America in a major way. Many agree it was his discovery that led modern day civilization to the brave new world.

Whichever theory we decide to follow, today is not only known as Columbus Day, but it also happens to be a special day for yours truly.

Some say Columbus deserves his very special day. http://www.hiddenhispanicheritage.com/10-columbus-deserves-his-day.html

One year older and to commemorate it, my wife and I decided to celebrate it with the most special people in our lives, our family members. And as most parents would agree, after one becomes a father, or in my case a grandfather, it is no longer about me, but about my children. In my case, Sponge Bob, Grandpa BoB aka GB, my birthday began around 5A when my two year old grandson woke up asking for his mom and saying "get me out of here". That is when I learned we were not was going to get any more sleep. Once a two year old is awake, the entire household must prepare for a brand new day, whether we like it, or not. This birthday makes me another day older, but thank God - Not deeper in debt, at least not as of yet.

The following classic soundtrack was produced with two takes of the rhythm track. First, co-author Paul overdubbed a vocal version onto take 2. The following day, George and John added background vocals, with Ringo adding all the bell sounds. Clarinets were overdubbed on the final day. Enjoy; http://youtu.be/ViKkjSzdwL4
