Event: The Deadline Club Holiday Party & Annual Election

Come one, come all to The Deadline Club’s annual Holiday Party. Join us at O’Casey’s 2nd-floor “library” for a buffet, cash bar and a chance to celebrate the season by lifting a glass with fellow journalists. With the Club on the eve of its 90th anniversary, we’ll also take a brief break for members to vote on our 2015 board of governors. Admission is free for all current Club members, with a $15 food charge for non-members in advance or $20 at the door, space permitting.

Event: McGraw Fellowships for Business Journalism

Fall applications are now open for The McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism, a recently launched program at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism designed to support ambitious coverage of critical issues related to U.S. economy and business. The fellowships will enable experienced journalists to do the deep reporting needed to produce a distinguished investigative, enterprise or narrative business story. Each McGraw Fellow will receive a stipend of $5,000 a month for up to three months, along with editorial guidance and assistance in placing stories with established print, radio or digital outlets. Freelance journalists, as well as reporters and editors currently working at a news organization may apply; no residency is required. Applicants should have at least five years professional experience and provide a story proposal, work samples and references with their online application. Event: Tobacco’s Global Impact

The National Press Foundation has a new international program on the tobacco industry and they are now accepting applications. Tobacco’s Global Impact is a seven-day all-expenses-paid fellowship. It takes place on March 15-21, 2015 in Abu Dhabi. They will offer fellowships to 20 international journalists. All media types are eligible.
