April 21st | 11:00am-5:30pm BRIO Dialogue

BCA introduces a new concept called "BRIO Dialogue." This is a chance to meet and converse with BRIO artists whose work is featured in Longwood's Home is Where the Bronx is exhibit. Come chat with them about their work and artistic experiences, and receive their valuable insight and advice. This also serves as a fun opportunity to witness a variety of artwork alongside its creators.

The afternoon will include a presentation of Lincoln Art Exchange, a program at Lincoln Hospital offering a unique option for eligible NYC-based artists to exchange their creative services for comprehensive healthcare.

April 28th | 11:30am-5:30pm
Butterflies, Jazz and Poetic Pizzazz!

Drawing inspiration from Julia Alvarez's In the Time of the Butterflies, a novel that depicts the brutality of dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo's Dominican Republic;

The Griots Collective return to share poetic stories of persecution. Like their BRIO Cafe event in January, there will be a chance for all to participate and give voice to their own experiences of hardship. It can be any kind of oppression ─ by the government, by society, by personal relationships, or by any other source;

Jazz Performance;

Free Give-a ways of Alvarez's novel.

Can't make the event, but still want to join in? Don't worry!
