Citizens Soap Box

Category

City Images wishes to know what's on your mind... Speak up, citizens!

This originates from the days when individuals would stand on a wooden crate used for shipment of soap or any other dry goods from a manufacturer to a distributor.

So, we want to know what's bugging you? Write to your heart's content.

What's keeping you up at night and worth sharing with the online community?

The truth is many of our leaders don’t know enough about what we want and need. Your stories help them better understand the value of the taxes you and your families pay to support your area.

We’ve already sent multiple messages to our elected leaders. And each time you send legislators your thoughts, they get the message: we want fair and clear rules for all our citizens.

Now, it’s your turn to make your voice be HEARD!!!

Making America Greater

Idea

Making America greater is not done with lies, insults, attacks, and self-promotion by a narcissistic, maniacal, misogynistic, homophobic, racist, demagogue? No way, not as long as I have a stake in this great nation.

New York City residents can continue to enjoy the outdoors this weekend, as another gloriously sun-soaked Sunday is in store for NYC and the surrounding areas.

THE PRESS ON TRIAL

Other

THE PRESS ON TRIAL!----TODAY--- AND IN 1735

The chief White House strategist, Stephen K. Bannon, has told the press to “keep its mouth shut and just listen for a while.” The press should listen and maybe will listen---to History.

The battle between Bannon and the press may have an interesting parallel from 283 years ago. Back in January 1734, John Peter Zenger was accused of seditious libel for printing in his weekly newspaper, the New York Journal, strong criticisms of the British governor of New York, William Cosby.

SOUNDVIEW FERRY?

Idea

History clearly attributes the profound success of New York City to its ports and waterways. Rediscovering and reinventing how these same assets can be used today is what I believe this ferry service proposal represents. This proposal deserves to be tested, and it is my hope that, in partnership with your office, we can make this pilot program a reality, writes Borough President Diaz in his letter to Mayor de Blasio. Some other elected officials and organizations are joining Diaz to support the three-year pilot proposal.

Contact Your Representatives

Solution

63 Days of Separation

Idea

Sixty-three degrees of separation is the theory that everyone and everything is now down to sixty-three steps away from polling day. Register and vote to keep the democracy on track. CITY IMAGES invites all of you, whether you're a democrat, republican, an independent like me or any other party.

#TRUMPTAXES Remember, with as few as 63 days to #Elections2016 & GOP's Trump is now the only candidate for decades to hide his tax returns from voters. Why is he hiding, and what the art of the deal?

WATER ON THE WAY?

Solution

AFTER A WEEK WITHOUT IT A WARM FRONT APPROACHES FROM THE WEST TONIGHT AND
THE CHANCE FOR SHOWERS AND A THUNDERSTORM WILL INCREASE AFTER MIDNIGHT.

TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 50...TO NEAR 60 IN THE NYC METRO AREA.

THE WARM FRONT PUSHES THROUGH WITH SHOWERS DURING SATURDAY
MORNING. A SOUTH TO SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW WILL RESULT IN A GOOD
DEAL OF CLOUDS AND A WARMER AND MORE HUMID START TO THE WEEKEND.

THERE IS ANOTHER CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND POSSIBLE A FEW
THUNDERSTORMS FOR SATURDAY NIGHT. SOME HEAVIER SHOWERS MAY
OCCUR WITH ANY THUNDERSTORMS.

Query

Is the poem the only one in the Citizens' Soap Box? Where are the rest, if any?

DEAR LADY

Dear Lady standing by the sea
You are a welcome sight to see
I have left the walls and shores of tyranny
And now I gaze at thee
You stand so tall for all to see
Your burning torch lights up the night
So all can see your Crown of Liberty
We who have come from across the sea
Stand on crowded decks to gaze at thee
I know that if by chance you gaze at me
My only wish is to be free
Dear Lady standing by the sea.
