City Island Senior Center At War?

Submitted by ub on

There are problems at the City Island Senior Center, which operates Monday - Friday from 9 am - 3 pm at Grace Episcopal Church.

I don't know if it was the tension of 9/11, the choppy waters surrounding City Island, or perhaps that super-moon, which tends to bring out plenty of wacky actions, but as City Island Images drove past the City Island Senior Center, there was loud yelling and we dare say some members blood pressures were probably trending on the high end.

One very vocal senior named Peggy, told me the center director, Ms. Addis assaulted her and told her to leave, then asked one of the staff to forcibly remove her, but he apparently refused.

Some seniors say they were told there was not enough food and water for everyone who wanted it. One of the problems appeared to be that some seniors are not satisfied with the management team in place.

While we were there there a statement made concerning a planned future election. City Island Images has repeatedly requested an interview with center administrators, but we have had not yet received a proper response.

There appears to be a need for an investigation into state of affairs. Some members told us they were satisfied with the services, while others claim fraud with these senior services.

We managed to speak to a gentleman who identified himself as Mr. Penn, and says he was a program officer at the NYC Dept. For The Aging. He assured us that his superiors would be notified.
