Saturday August 2nd, 2014 Sweet Potato Pie Eating Contest at the Market:A pie eating contest is just one more reason why the New Rochelle Farmers Market is the place to be every Saturday.

Regulars at the BID downtown Farmers Market already know about the fabulous, as in really, really good desserts prepared weekly by Diana Scott-Sho, owner/baker of The Luscious Little Dessert Company. If you don’t believe us or your neighbors, her Lemon Chess Pie was described by the New York Times as “dangerously light on the tongue and had that fizzy lemonade aftermath that leaves you feeling at once sated and thirstier than before.” This Saturday, Luscious Little Dessert Company is sponsoring a pie eating contest.

Contestants will be chosen from a list of volunteers who sign up by 11:30 am at either at The Luscious Little Dessert Company's market stand or with a company representative roaming the market. Everyone who signs up will receive a $1 coupon for any luscious dessert making everyone a winner!

Three contestants* will be chosen at 12:15 pm to dig their faces into an 8" Sweet Potato Pie - one of the company's signature items. It's a family recipe from owner, Diana Scott-Sho's, great grandmother, "Big Ma". Contestants will have 3 minutes to eat as much pie. The first contestant to finish and stand up will be declared the winner.. Whoever eats the most wins!
The winner will receive a gift basket of Diana's Luscious Little Desserts along with other delectable surprises. The runners up will win Diana's current seasonal pie - Country Peach with Buttermilk Crust. *Participants must be over 18 years to participate.
