An early afternoon two alarm fire has seriously damaged a City Island building just as members of this small nautical community are making headway in their recovery from Super-storms.
About 125 firefighters with 3 truck ladders and 3 hoses battled flames for over an hour Thursday afternoon at the multistory building located at 225 Fordham street at the most eastern end of the island.
Fire officials tell City Island Images that the building is out and they are waiting for ConEd to cut the power off to begin their investigation. Among the most recent uses of this multistory building was Ultra Power Sports, a jet ski dealership and a seagull prevention service owned by City Islander Ricardo Machiavelli. Thankfully, FDNY says none were seriously hurt and reporting one minor injury.
