Friday, September 5 Salieu Suso and Malang Jobarteh 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

In partnership with the Bronx Music Heritage Center, Bartow Pell Mansion Museum is proud to welcome kora players Salieu Suso and Malang Jobarteh. The kora is a 21-string instrument from West Africa.

Suso was born into a family of musicians, historians, and storytellers and is a descendant of Jalimady, the inventor of the kora, which has a truly beautiful sound resembling a harp. Master kora player Suso and his nephew Jobarteh will perform traditional songs and stories from Gambia. Suso has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Africa.

Enjoy an early fall evening at the mansion listening to live music, exploring the museum, and strolling the garden. Light refreshments available. The trolley makes a continuous loop from the #6 Pelham Bay Park subway station to BPMM to City Island starting at 5:25p.m.
