Now "Fresh Off The Boat" ABC, Preview February 4, Premiere February 10

A 12 year old, hip-hop loving Eddie just moved to suburban Orlando from DC’s Chinatown with his parents. It’s culture shock for his immigrant family in this comedy about pursuing the American Dream. The fact that "fresh off the boat" is a slur, it also uses a hip-hop play-on-words. That could be too bad, because Nahnatchka Khan's adaptation of Huang's memoir is a really funny '90s-set fish-out-of-water comedy that deserves a big and wide audience. "Fresh Off the Boat" will get a boost from the "Interview"-fueled visibility of Randall Park (paired appealingly with Constance Wu) and benefits from terrific across-the-board casting, including strong juvenile actors Hudson Yang, Forrest Wheeler and Ian Chen. It's the story of a Taiwanese family in Orlando, which is very universal.
