The New York Public Library City Island Branch Lecture: Multimedia Journalism Seminar: Presented by longtime City Island resident, Professor Roberto Soto.

Saturday's free program discussed the creation of interactive content, with photos, audio and video. Soto lectured on the production of online content, which can be best told in a multimedia format and by producing original stories using images, photos video and audio. Because great story tellers have been and will continue to be all around us forever.

A powerful story needs to start somewhere, go somewhere, and sit down when it gets there. More than thousands of details can add up to one impression. Never start off intense, or scary because it will all become anticlimactic from there. The audience is not supposed to see structure. It should be invisible. It should never be imposed, as it arises within the story.

NYPL General Manager thanked professor Soto for offering his time and expertise at the City Island library. The patrons who attended were very stimulated by the program. One regular attendee went on to say that it was the most interesting lecture he had ever witnessed at the library.

The notice for this special lecture was placed on Facebook the day before the event and over 840 people viewed, or liked the posting. There were comments from a varied group of individuals, including NY Daily News longtime journalist Albor Ruiz.
