US citizens are on edge after a black Army veteran killed five lawmen during a Texas sniper attack that added safety anxieties to our nation, which is divided about guns and how police treat minority citizens.
Meanwhile, there are planned protests scheduled throughout this weekend as people everywhere just want to be free of police brutality.
The demonstrations are over the killing of two African-American men, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, earlier this week. These protests come days after a 25-year-old Army veteran went on a shooting rampage and killed five Texas police officers and injured nine others.
Describing the assault as, “a vicious, calculated and despicable attack on law enforcement,” US President Obama is cutting his European trip short and will return to Washington Sunday before traveling to Dallas to address the racial and policing issues that transpired the past few days.
