RING OF FIRE DANGERS

Submitted by ub on

Over the past week, there have reportedly been nearly 1700 tremors, or quakes around the world, and not just in Chile and California. This occurrence brings up the theory of THE RING OF FIRE.

The Ring of Fire is a series of sites with seismic activity, or earthquakes, around the edges of the planet along the Pacific Ocean.

The Ring of Fire is not a circular ring. It is shaped more like a 25,000-mile long horseshoe. Think of it as a string of 452 volcanoes stretching from South America, up along the coast of North America, across the Bering Strait, down through Japan, and all the way into New Zealand.

The state of California is most prone to earthquakes. It lies on the transform boundary between the North American Plate, which is moving south, and the Pacific Plate, which is moving north.

These are considered prime locations for tremors and earthquakes.
