Some folks who celebrate by wearing green, drinking beer, or attending parades dressed as colorful creatures from Irish myth and legend to commemorate St. Patrick’s Day may also wish to consider the Irish potato famine, which was caused by egotistical wealthy individuals who prized profit over people, thereby causing the death by starvation of many innocent people.
However, there is enough blame to spread and finger pointing. It could have come from the British who bought the food exports from Ireland, or from the Anglican Church, which could have, but never denounced the wealthy thereby causing the famine of those poor Irish people.
