Seize The Moment

To create our own opportunity, we must know that good thing come to those who #seizethemoment. These are folks who're in the right place at the right time. They’re the ones who appear to land the dream job, live the dream life, fulfilling their karma, or their life’s purpose, with a profound sense of groundedness, self-realization, and joy.

KNOW YOURSELF

Before you start the journey of finding or creating an opportunity, we first need to know ourselves on a deep level. Anything we do should come out of a sense of who we are so that our unique skill set can be used to the fullest extent possible. By identifying what we offer that is also in line with our personal values, we can then begin to hone what is or isn’t a real opportunity. For example, if you are highly skilled in electronics and value helping others, then a great opportunity would be to look into AS technology as opposed to graphics, or both.

To get a better sense of our unique offering, take time to reflect on what makes us special, what we value, and what skills we offer. Beforehand, ask the following questions and answer them yourself to use for reflections:

What do I admire most about me?
If I could describe me in one word, what would it be?
What unique qualities do I possess?
What do I like to do best?
What am I naturally good at?
How do others see me?

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

Once we have a strong understanding of who we are, what makes us tick and what we offer, believe in our power to offer those skills. Developing self-confidence can open up doors that we may not have knocked on before. By projecting this type of confidence, we encourage others to view us as an expert in your skills. If you believe in yourself, others will also believe in you.

WORK YOURSELF OUT

If we like technology and want to develop an app, why not join a networking event in our area that focuses on the tech industry. If we want to start a travel blog, let's go somewhere we’ve never been and interview locals to get an insider’s look into the area. If we’re looking for a business partner, join local entrepreneurial meetups and networking events. By putting ourselves out there and meeting people who will support our dreams, we’re more likely to create opportunities for ourselves.

OPEN YOURSELF TO ANYTHING

Everyone is a storyteller at heart and we have a passion for giving other people a voice, so use those skills in corporate communications or marketing and develop testimonials. We get to know people and their story while also meeting a real need. Be flexible as you take action. Sometimes opportunities that use our skills are different than what we expect.

KEEP YOURSELF POSITIVE

Volunteer our time and talent! We offer guidance and counsel based on our skills, establishing credibility and laying the foundation for when a full-blown opportunity presents itself. If we have a listening ear and want to become a counselor, volunteer our services at a local community center or offer our time pro bono at a counseling firm. If an opportunity doesn’t happen immediately, have faith that something is going to occur.

STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF

Take advantage of every opportunity with confidence. Plan and nurture a pipeline of opportunities. We’re able to make an informed decision based on our confidence, skills, and knowledge of self. Step into our power and feel assured that we do not make a wrong decision. If we step into an opportunity that eventually turns out to be less-than-perfect, it will have served its purpose of leading us to the next one. Every step in our journey is important.
