Weather Warnings

Excessive heat warning this week for the Northeast as well as most of the nation and a heat advisory for the remainder of the area.

Remember to have plenty of water on hand if working or traveling outside. Temperatures today will feel in excess of 100°F, so please stay cool and hydrated. Dear mother nature: Whatever it is that you’re cooking up for earthlings, it’s not only done, you're burning and melting the pot.

The heat index could reach triple figures this week. While the heat and humidity were initially expected to peak Thursday and cool off by the end of the week, the latest forecast now shows the hot weather will likely continue throughout this weekend.

Meanwhile, dangerous heat continues to impact a large portion of the USA as widespread excessive heat warnings and heat advisories are in effect, especially in several major metro areas from the Northwest Coast to the Northeast coast. Some strong to severe thunderstorms are expected the next few days from the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S. into the Ohio Valley and parts of the Midwest.

The good news… If you’ve been waiting until Saturday for a shower,  wait no longer. The Perseid meteor shower will grace the summer skies in mid-August as one of the biggest showers of the year. The meteor shower will peak from midnight tonight till dawn on August 13 but actually runs from July 23 to August 22, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac.
