Winter Officially Arrives

Submitted by ub on

Prepare for a significant winter storm which is expected to bring heavy snow and dangerous blizzard conditions to portions of the northern Plains through Tuesday.

Snowfall amounts could reach up to one foot. Strong winds and very cold temperatures will also yield sub-zero wind chill factors and frigid readings caused by blowing snow. Reduced visibility could result in severe travel difficulties.

Howling winds are also expected to create dangerous wind chills dropping as low as minus 30 on Tuesday night in the northern Plains as the coldest weather of the season keeps roaring across much of the country.

Below-zero temperatures are likely in the early mornings through Thursday from the Rockies to the northern Plains. The cold snap, which gave Chicago its first snow of the season, is expected to bring freezing temperatures as far south as Florida?

The arctic blast is forecast to stick around well into next weekend and perhaps longer... Ouch!
