Creating dialogue in the face of hostility is a challenge in social media, as well as in real life. But it can be done and will continue to be done in the best interest of journalism.
The whole world is facing gigantic challenges, and so is any and all political discourse. The 24-hour news cycle has become too familiar with social media posts, short video and audio clips and 140 characters tweets. And if we want folks to read it, it better be clever, newsworthy and accuracy will never an afterthought.
Nothing makes everyone appreciate journalism more than anonymous bloggers and partisan tweets.
Say it and own it, or consider your actions before you decide to follow through.
