Please join me, my friends, my colleagues, and a few pros for a media reunion in The Bronx. It’s my birthday, so let’s party.
We begin at NYPL at high noon and end with a bang at sunset. Together, each of you help build many news media organizations that deliver fair and objective journalism. We do this during a trying time in our nation’s history and I believe what we accomplish is outstanding.
My long and ecclesiastical career with startups and turnaround projects in different languages was never pressure, but pleasure and privilege to build multiple media outlets.
The media needs more objective journalism and dedicated journalists like all of you. Indeed, some of you still have a consequential election to cover for your audience, which demands fact-based and thoughtful coverage. We owe it to our loyal audiences on all platforms to continue to deliver the highest-quality news and information content.
First, you are invited to a free lecture at the City Island Library by Retumba founders Yvette Martinez and Nancy Friedman. Two dynamic Bronx forces reunite! There will be a lecture along with a demonstration of dance and drum traditions.
Then all media colleagues are welcome to attend our reunion on City Island - A Slice of NYC Paradise. We plan to meet at the end of the Island Tony’s Pier restaurant at the end @ 1 City Island Avenue, the last one on the right side. From there walk to the Morris Yacht Club for a drink on the water.
Later on, everyone is invited to enjoy Retumba! - a multi-ethnic music and dance ensemble now celebrating Hispanic Heritage with ¡Retumba! bases its work on the music and dance of Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean: Puerto Rico, Cuba, The Dominican Republic, and South America. ¡Retumba! brings the excitement of world culture and traditions into a feast of folkloric music that everyone enjoys while demonstrating the similarities and links of our shared cultures.
Saturday, October 12 - We wrap up our celebration with ROKA-TUMBA!
Two influential Bronx dance groups are coming together again for an electrifying evening of BADD dance and music. The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance presents cutting-edge and challenging works for children of all ages.

Finally, these are cash events, which means DUTCH. Folks, let’s enjoy this entire experience because we've got to live one day at a time. #AmigoSiempre.
