BIKE TO WORK ON MAY 17

Submitted by ub on

For you, it’s a simple decision every morning: to ride or not to ride. That decision may be about the weather or how difficult yesterday’s exercise routine was, but the final result is 100 percent pure bicycle activism.

Every time you get on your bike and ride, you’re showing off how amazingly joyful and simply accessible bicycling makes New York City. You’re no braggadocio; you’re simply aware of the best way to get from A to B and you're living it in high gear.

Next month, you have a chance to take that daily activism one step further when millions of Americans make their commute an intentional example on National Bike to Work Day. New Yorkers can celebrate in this annual holiday by pledging to bike to work right now.

On May 17th, hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers will join together to take their bicycles to work. Whether it will be your first time bicycling to the office or you're an everyday bicycle commuter, here's the first step to all the Bike to Work Day fun: Pledge to Bike to Work.

When you directly ask your friends, family and colleagues to bike to work, they’re 100 percent more likely to take the plunge. You can share an image on your Facebook wall about your pledge; you can tweet about your pledge to bike to work; you can even copy and paste the text at the bottom of this page into an e-mail to encourage your friends, family and colleagues to join you on May 17th.

City Island Images has pledged to ride a bike to work on May 17th, in honor of Bike to Work Day. It’s a huge, citywide celebration of bicycling and we want you to join in by being a part of it. Will you take the same exact pledge?

On May 17th, activists from Transportation Alternatives will be staffing Fueling Stations around the city to give free iced coffee and breakfast to every bicyclist that rides by. It’s going to be an amazing day. I hope you’ll join me, take the pledge and ride your bicycle to work on May 17th.

Hoping to see you in the streets!
