Hate's Not Great

As a Cuban born American citizen, the father as well as grandfather of proud Americans and the son of Cuban-American immigrants, I have always taken US novelist and longtime social critic James Baldwin's words to heart: "I love America more than any other country in the world and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her ceaselessly."

To me, two things define America. First, the strength it draws from its diverse population and cultures, all striving to be American in their own ways, and this country's guarantee of a free press. We live in an era where both the concept of diversity, and of a free media, are under attack. I have devoted my career to defending those ideals. I shall continue to do so.

From being a combat producer in Central America to running news operations in Los Angeles, Washington DC and New York City, my entire professional life has been spent in pursuit of those ideals.

Additionally, since the truth is often silenced by haters, I am skilled at dealing with these types of negative energy individuals who spread hate and the best thing to do is to avoid these people whenever possible, but never allow them to push your buttons.
