On Monday, November 26, Council Members James Vacca, Chair of the Transportation Committee, will hear a package of bills that deal with the City’s taxi and for hire vehicle industry. Most importantly, the committee will discuss Intro 929, which would require a decal with the rate of fare to be posted on the exterior of all yellow taxis, as it was for decades before the Taxi and Limousine Commission stripped the cabs of this basic consumer information earlier this year. The committee will also seek testimony on Intro 923, which would allow the TLC to approve electric vehicles for use as medallion taxicabs, and Intro 930, which requires TLC to report information regarding wait times for inspections at its Woodside facility.
